Fox hunting
In the past, fox hunting was rarely conducted before the skin was validated (as the fox is fully furred). That time normally occurs around the latter half of November / beginning of December, when the skins are most beautiful and has the best price. Today, fox skins are difficult to sell and provide poor profits, but the fox is still a popular game. To some extent due to the impact it makes on the remaining small game strains and that it is a fascinating and beautiful creature. Today, fox hunting is conducted with different hunting methods such as watch hunting, decoy hunting and hunting with a dog from the beginning of August to the middle of April.
Dogs during fox hunting
Fox hunting is conducted with 2 different types of dogs in particular. One type of dog is drifting that chases the fox with its bark. The stand shooter's task is to try to shoot the fox on the train. The other type of dog used is the pot dog. The dog team
A fox hunting crew consists of a duster and a pot dog. Both of these dog types are usually crucial to getting an effective fox hunt with a dog. As the fox often walks or is already in the cauldron when the duster follows the night run, the cauldron dog is often needed already at an early stage of the hunt. Otherwise, many foxes have a tendency to go into the pot after the duster has drifted for a while. In general, I would like to say that inland, about 9/10 foxes are shot during pot hunting and the equivalent of 1/10 on gears.
